Kate & Jonny | Wedding at Devonshire Terrace, London
Fun, friends and a fantastic atmosphere were the criteria for Kate and Jonny's wedding day
Kate and Jonny were keen to have a very relaxed wedding at Devonshire Terrace, requesting the photographic coverage be of a reportage style, with the exception of a few couple photographs and group photos.
The couple wanted their wedding photography to be as natural as possible so I was happy to shoot in a more reportage style!
Starting at South Place Hotel I walk into a very excited hotel suite full of family members and the atmosphere is perfect! I capture some shot's of the dress and Kate's nieces and nephews getting ready. Once the dress is on it's time to head over to Devenoshire Terrace to meet with Jonny and the groomsmen at the pub!
Devonshire Square is a unique venue located in the City of London, a perfect wedding venue for outdoor ceremonies as the courtyard is covered – and it looks amazing!
I capture the set up of the outdoor ceremony and get a sneak preview of the wedding breakfast room! Jonny is a graphic designer so has personalised all the elements of the day with bright typographical elements - it looked fantastic and I loved the mini bottles of Jägermeister as the favours - I knew we were going to have a good day!
Kate arrives in a London Taxi and looks amazing!
I can tell she is nervous and remind myself of the reportage only brief - no directed photographs Debbie!! The ceremony is fun and inclusive, very suited to our couple - Kate's twin sister made an emotional reading before they say their vows and dance back down the aisle!
The drinks were flowing as the couple greet their guests. The terrace is a great location with comfortable sofas and plenty of space to mingle.
I quickly capture the short list of family group shots before we leave the party for some couple photographs. With the iconic Gherkin available as a backdrop we stroll along Devonshire Terrace for some very urban, very London wedding photographs!
Back in the restaurant the guests are ready to be seated. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was fantastic as the couple enter - napkins waving, guests whooping!
The formality of the speeches completed and the couple and their guests were ready to enjoy the party, set to go on until 2am!
